Katharine Holmes: In Grandmother's Footsteps, the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate 2017.
The work in this exhibition was created as part of an Arts Council funded Mercer Art Gallery project which followed the work of individual women artists who have been inspired in different ways by the Yorkshire landscape.
Katharine Holmes is the third generation of women artists in her family to have lived and worked in High Barn Cottage, Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. In this exhibition she explored her grandmother Constance Pearson's life in art through following the routes that she took in her life as an artist and creating new work of her own in those places. This journey took her from Malhamdale and the Yorkshire Dales to The North York Moors, the Yorkshire coast and to Cornwall.
